Zhang Zheng, Professor, PhD

Background

Zhang Zheng holds a PhD in English Literature from Peking University. He is the author of the monograph A Study of Computer Translation and has published over 30 textbooks and 50 journal articles. He is currently the director of the Centre for Comparative Cultural and Translation Studies at the School of Foreign Languages and Literature.

Professor

Wang Liya, Professor, PhD

Background

Wang Liya received her PhD in English Literature from Peking University in 2000. She has published over 30 articles in academic journals and is the author of Gender Ideology and Narrative Strategies in Henry James (2004) and co-author of A Study on Anglo-American Narrative Theories (2005) and Western Narratology: Classical and Postclassical (2010). She has translated eight books on literary theory, short tales and novels. Her recent translation of A Truth Universally Acknowledged: 33 Great Writers on Why We Read Jane Austen was published in 2011.

Wang Guangzhou, Associate Professor, PhD

Background

Wang Guangzhou received a BA from the Department of English Language and Literature at Hebei Normal University (formerly known as the Hebei Teachers College) in 1993, an MA from the School of Foreign Languages and Literature at Hunan Normal University in 1996 and a PhD from the School of Foreign Languages and Literature at Beijing Normal University in 2003. He has been teaching translation and other courses at the School since 1996.

Jiang Li, Lecturer, PhD

Background

Jiang Li holds a PhD in English Language and Literature (Translation and Comparative Cultural Studies) from Peking University. She has published a number of textbooks and articles on translation in leading Chinese journals. She also has extensive practical experience as a translator and an interpreter.

Jiang Yuanqun, Instructor, MA

Background

Jiang Yuanqun has a Master in Conference Interpretation and Translation from the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation at the Beijing Foreign Studies University. She joined the Centre after her graduation and has since been teaching a range of interpretation classes. She also works as a simultaneous and consecutive interpreter at international conferences.
